Brazil confirmed as 2014 host nation

FIFA's Executive Committee today named Brasil as the host nation for the 2014 World Cup. The country was the only one bidding to host the tournament.
FIFA's rotation system made it clear that the games would be hosted on the South American continent. Allthough Argentina, Colombia and Chile earlier hoped to organize the tournament, there were never any doubts that the decision would be Brazil.
"The task was not easy - for us it was a real big challenge to have the same list of requirements and the same conditions for only one candidate than if we had two and perhaps we put the bar higher than if we had two," said Blatter at the FIFA press conference.
Brazil hosted the tournament in 1950, losing the final to Uruguay.
