Brazil has been chosen by the South American Football Confederation as its sole candidate to hold the 2014 world cup finals.
FIFA announced that the competition would return to South America for the first time since Argentina were the hosts in 1978.
And now the Conmebol Executive Committee have given their unanimous support to current world champions to stage the finals.
The world cup was last played in Brazil in 1950, when Uruguay claimed the Jules Rimet trophy.
