The Mexican Soccer Federation (Femexfut) is seeking support from the government and local firms to win the right to host the 2014 World Cup, said Wednesday its president, Alberto de la Torre.

The soccer official assured authorities and businessmen are being invited to "join the initiative in order to embody it".

"Who wouldn't want to organize a World Cup? It would be the third one in our country," said De la Torre, during a Femexfut meeting taking place at Merida, the capital of the southeastern Mexican state of Yucatan.

De la Torre indicated that the federation "will do what it takes" to win the bid for the 2014 World Cup. Mexico has already organized the World Cup in 1970 and 1986.

Brazil is the other country which has expressed its wish to organize that World Cup.
